Bomby Journey is a family-run Ontario silkworm-breeding and education project. We help families, teachers, homeschoolers, and first-time keepers explore the full life cycle of Bombyx mori with live silkworms, eggs, mulberry chow, and classroom-ready kits.

Life cycle

Four clear stages, one unforgettable classroom story.

Silkworms are easy to follow when the cycle is broken into simple stages: eggs, larvae, cocoons, and moths. That makes them ideal for observation, drawing, science vocabulary, and gentle hands-on care.

Stage 1

Eggs

Tiny, still, and easy to overlook at first. Eggs are the beginning of the cycle and a great way to show patience in real time.

Stage 2

Larvae

This is the feeding stage children love most. The worms eat, grow fast, molt through instars, and become easy to compare from day to day.

Stage 3

Cocoons

Once feeding stops, the worms wander, settle, and spin silk around themselves. Cocooning is often the most exciting shift for a class to witness.

Moths

Adult moths emerge, mate, and begin the cycle again. They help students connect observation, metamorphosis, and reproduction in one small species.
